Fujitsu launches LifeBook MH330 netbook

Here is another entry into the netbook world and this time it’s from Fujitsu. LifeBook MH330 weighs just around 1.1 kg and measuring just 18.5mm thin at the front and 24.5mm thin at the back making it one of the slimmest netbooks in its class.

The Fujitsu LifeBook MH330 netbook is powered by Intel Atom N450 processor (1.66GHz, 512 L2 Cache, 667MHz) and comes with a 250GB hard disk. It also features Bluetooth v2.1, 5-in-one card reader, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and an integrated web camera. Sony has announced the launch of four new headsets which are specially made for iPod and iPhone users. These models are DR-EX300ip, MDR-EX38ip, DR-V150iP, MDR-E10iP. HTC launches 1st 4G/WiMAX Android Handset, available from Sprint

It will be the first WiMAX/4G phone that is going to be launched in USA soon and it’s from HTC. The Android powered phone is called HTC EVO 4G and it will be available from Sprint. This cool phone features 4.3 inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 8MP camera, FM Radio, 1.3 MP video conf camera, HDMI port, 1 GB ROM, 512 MB RAM, 8GB microSD card. The phone will be on Android 2.0 user interface and 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor.

That’s quite a lot of features packed into one powerful smartphone. This Android powered phone would obviously support numerous Google applications and will offer possibility of customization. If you have plans to buy a smartphone, hold on! In my opinion it would be worthwhile to wait until this phone will start retailing this summer. Meanwhile, I will add it to my wish list of gadgets for its features and it being a WiMAX phone.

New range of wireless routers from Belkin

Belkin has launched an all new range of wireless routers to cater to the needs of a wide variety of users. This new range has 4 new routers called Surf, Share, Play and Play Max. Each of these routers has different features.

Let’s start with the first router in the range, the Surf. It’s a basic router designed for basic surfing featuring 802.11n 2.4GHz wireless and 256-bit WPA/WPA encryption.

The second router in the range is Share which comes along with a built-in USB port that will let you connect an external hard disk. This will allow you to share music and video files with all the computers at your home. That sounds really good. Isn’t it?

1TB 2.5 inch hard drive from Toshiba

In the age of digital media, the more the capacity of a hard disk is, the better it is. I still remember, back in 1998 my first computer had a hard disk from Quantum with capacity of mere 4GB and it was the greatest at that time. Fast forward to 2010, my system runs on 80GB hard disk and almost nearing capacity. It’s another story that I run more than 2 operating systems on my computer.

Toshiba has reached 1TB of storage capacity with their 2.5 inch factor hard disk drives which are suited for notebooks. They are only 9.5 mm in height and can easily sneak into your laptop’s hard disk compartment without any problems. There is another hard disk from Toshiba, MKxx59GSM series, which comes in both 750GB and 1TB sizes.

Btw, did you know that ZFS file system from Solaris is the only 128 bit file system which can manage more than 1000TB of disks very efficiently?

Kobo eReader at $150 could be a Kindle killer

If you are in the market looking for an electronic reading device or an eReader, I would say – pause, look at Kobo eReader and then decide. Amazon’s kindle is perhaps the first electronic reading device that comes to anyone’s mind when they think of an eReader and let me tell you that this $150 eReader from Kobo could change that very soon. Kobo eReader device a serious threat to Sony eReader, Barnes & Noble Nook and Amazon Kindle 2.

Similar to Kindle in looks, the Kobo eReader device costs ONLY HALF of what you would pay for Kindle. Well, the primary difference between Kindle and Kobo eReaders is that Kindle has built-in 3G while Kobo doesn’t. You will have to use the USB port or Bluetooth connectivity to upload books to Kobo and if you have a computer at home, I am sure you won’t mind saving $200 by not buying Kindle and instead manually uploading books to your Kobo reader.

Kobo reader has a 1GB storage which can hold upto 1000 books right out of the box for you. Kindle has 2GB for you to know. But then Kobo will let you insert an SD card to take the capacity all the way upto 4GB and be able to store upto 4000 books at any time. With 4000 books in your eReader, you could be reading one book everyday for next 10 years. I know what you are thinking, 1GB is enough. Isn’t it? Ok, you now can skip buying the SD card also and instead use that money to buy more e-books.

Ok. Let’s now talk about some features of Kobo. The interface of Kobo seems be much better than Kindle. It features 5 selectable font sizes and two fonts – Serif and Sans-Serif. The reader has a quilted back that brings the touch and comfort of traditional books to your eReading. The Kobo has 4 navigational buttons on the front – Home, Menu, Back and Display, which integrated into a 4Way DPAD navigation button. A full battery charge may seems to be last upto 2 weeks or 8000 page turns. That seems to be ok to me.
