enTourage Systems launches Documents To Go

enTourage Systems recently announced the launch and availability of Documents To Go software for all enTourage dualbook eDGe units. The software will let all enTourage eDGe users view, create and edit Microsoft Office files from the device’s LCD screen. The software has been launched in partnership with DataViz, a provider of mobile office compatibility solutions.

For those of you who are not familiar with enTourage eDGe devices, here is a little bit of background. The enTourage eDGe merges an e-paper and LCD screen to create a dual-screen device combining the functionality of an electronic book reader (e-reader), tablet netbook, notepad and audio/video recorder and player in one. Their new software, Documents To Go will take the device to the next level by giving the ability to even create and edit MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on the tablet netbook screen.

enTourage Systems provides a complete user experience, offering its own e-book store, sharing between devices and document storage on the company’s servers to safeguard any material created or saved on enTourage eDGe units. The enTourage eDGe runs on the Google Android operating system, folds a full 360 degrees and orients its displays horizontally or vertically, to view as a book, single screen, or prop up like a laptop.

The enTourage eDGe is available for pre-orders at entourageedge at a retail price of $499 with the integrated Documents To Go software. All orders received before Feb 1st will cost $490 and include the DataViz technology as well, which usually retails for $29.99 when purchased separately. Products will begin shipping in February 2010, with additional shipments following in March. via
