LaCie announces Rugged XL hard disk drives

LaCie has announced the launch of their new Rugged XL hard drives that doubles the hard disk storage capacity to 1TB. The Rugged XL drive features aluminum casing for superior protection and also the orange rubber sleeve which is common to most of the LaCie hard drives. Rugged XL drives has also got an internal bumper and heat dissipating feature that will help the drive withstand tough physical situations.

The drive is compatible with both Mac and Windows and has built-in support for high-speed USB and eSATA 3Gb/s interfaces. The new Rugged XL drive also includes software to assist during the initial setup of the new drive and also a backup software agent software from Genie for Windows and Intego backup assistant software for Mac users. Since the new line of LaCie drives supports high speed interfaces, it may be best suited for speed-intensive applications and large backups.
