Celestron Microscope with LCD video screen, digital camera and USB
The standard microscopes that we all have seen or used are usually fitted with an eyepiece through which we see the magnified images of the objects put under the microscope. This microscope from Celestron has taken a slight deviation from the standard design of a typical microscope and uses an LCD video screen instead of the standard eyepiece to display objects. It has got a 3.5″ thin-film transistor LCD that displays images at 320×240 resolution. The microscope captures still images or videos using a built-in 2MP digital camera and displays objects on the LCD screen.
The microscope provides magnification from 40x to 400x and all the way upto 1600x when used with its 4X digital zoom feature. Objects that you want to view through this microscope can either be illuminated from the top or from the bottom using two separate 6-watt LED light sources that can each be controlled by turning an exposure value knob. The camera has 128MB of built-in memory that can store 120 still shots or 40 minutes of video at 1600×1200 resolution. The memory can be further expanded using the SD card slot or you may use the USB port to transfer images and videos onto a computer.
It will be a must-to-have microscope for schools and colleges. It is priced at $299.95 and is available from Amazon. ![]()
