TiVo releases HD XL DVR with terabyte of storage
For those of you who are big fans of TiVo, there’s a reason to rejoice. The new TiVo HD XL now offers upto 150 hours of HD content storage when compared to the earlier TiVo Series 3 that could store only 20 hours worth of HD content.
TiVo HD XL features TiVo Glo backlit remote and will work with virtually any cable provider that offers support for CableCARD. The player is priced at $600, which seems to be overpriced. That’s because if you happen to buy a TiVo HD, a 1TB hard drive and a Glo remote, it would still cost you under $500. But then a third party storage upgrade kits doesn’t come cheap either. There are many people who seems to have successfully hacked and upgraded their TiVo HD to 400-500GB SATA drives without any issues.
