Engineers create a mini-microscope - the smallest in the world
Coming straight out of science fiction, here’s a tiny microscope that is roughly about the size of a coin and will easily fit into your pocket, or may be you could fill your pocket with such mini-microscopes. Creation of such a miniature microscope was possible using nanotechnology, you would have already guessed that, and features the same resolving power when compared to a regular powerful optical microscope.
This minuscule microscope was developed by engineers at California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and they predict that the finished product, which will be available to everyone, would cost approximately $10 a unit. That’s affordable and I have already added this item to my wish-list of must-to-have gadgets.
If you are wondering where this tiny microscope would help, the engineers had developed it to use it for field “systems on a chip” to test blood samples but in future it could have a variety of applications.
