The open-source alternative to iPhone from Openmoko


Openmoko Neo RunnerOpenmoko has started shipping its Neo FreeRunner Linux phone to distributors. The Openmoko stack allows users and developers to transform mobile hardware platforms into unique products. The open license allows developers and anyone to install their choice of the software on the handset and customize the phone to any extent.

The Neo FreeRunner is a linux based touch screen phone that features VGA resolution of 480×640 pixels, 128MB SDRAM memory, internal GPS module, Bluetooth, 802.11 b/g WiF, 400Mhz processor and hardware Graphics Accelerator chip. Some other features include 3D accelerometers for the phone to know its orientation, Tri-band GSM and GPRS and a USB Host function that will allow you to use this phone to charge your USB devices.
