Texas Instruments makes it closer to the lamp-free projector
Texas Instruments recently demonstrated the first home theater lamp-free projector ever that utilizes a PhlatLight™ LED light source and a BrilliantColor™ chipset. This technology is capable of delivering 1080p picture, which is quite superior for home use.
Being lamp-free eliminates maintenance costs and the charges incurred towards changing lamps over a period of time in conventional projectors that uses lamp technology. Lamp-free technology also means power savings of over 30%, reduced costs and a very long life of the projector. The replacement for the LED should become more cheaper over years to come and thus make it absolutely affordable for home users to buy a projector instead of big LCDs. I have already added to my wish list of items to buy.
Those days of lamp-free projectors are not too far away!
