Samsung Announces Mass Production of the 500 GB Hard Drive for Laptops

Samsung recently announced the mass production of Spinpoint M6, the world’s highest capacity hard drive for laptops and also mass production of Spinpoint MP2 - one of the world’s fastest laptop hard drives. The 500GB storage capacity of Spinpoint M6 hard disk makes it the obvious choice of those who store a vast amount of information in their notebooks.

For those interested in the technicalities, the M6 hard disk consists of three 167GB platters, is 9.5mm in height, meets the Microsoft fast-boot design requirements and supports ramp load and unload of up to 600,000 times. This drive also features a 5400rpm spindle speed, a 8MB cache, and 3.0Gbps SATA interface with a Free-Fall-Sensor available as an optional feature.
