WordPress: Spam comments on my blog are down by 90%
Are you receiving tons of spam comments on your blog and spend a lot of time filtering them manually? I have recently installed a plugin that has taken care of the spam comments on my blog for ever. The plugin is called Simple CAPTCHA that adds a image based verification to the comments section of a blog. This has helped me a lot and I highly recommend that you also install this plugin on your blog and spend your productive time writing quality posts instead of filtering those nasty spam comments.
Look at the comments section below to see how the image verification looks like after installing this plugin.

I hope it never comes to this point on my blog - I hate CAPTCHAs

Scabr,
Akismet is an excellent anti-spam plugin that does a very nice job of identifying the spam comments and take care of them. But I still had to go through the list of comments that were marked as spam manually to de-mark any genuine comment marked as spam by Akismet.
The Captcha plugin does away with automated scripts that posts comments and thus leaves very less number of spam comments coming in. This consumes less time of mine to go through the comments posted.
