Fujitsu offers hardware based hard disk encryption
Fujitsu has announced the release of their 2.5 inch hard drives that features AES-256 bit encryption using the hardware in the hard disk itself. Since the encryption keys resides in the hardware of the hard disk, the chances of someone breaking into it is highly remote.
Hard disk based encryption puts less burden on the system to encrypt and decrypt the data for regular system use. This hard disk also has a feature that can erase the content of the entire disk drive if you want to dispose it, thus making it impossible to read the data after the disk has been erased – good for companies and individuals who require very high level of security for their data on the hard disk drives.
Fujitsu’s 2.5 inch, 7200 RPM SATA disk drives comes in 5 sizes to meet the storage requirements of everyone. The disk comes in the size of 80GB, 120GB, 160GB, 250GB and 320GB.
