How one line of Javascript earns a billion dollars for Google?
This kind of logic usually goes unnoticed and stays hidden until someone notices and highlights it. Thanks to the fact that I am subscribed to BlogStorm blog and read this recent article on document.f.q.focus(); function of Javascript.
Author of BlogStorm brings it to the notice of its readers, how that one line of javascript earns billions of dollars for Google, year on year. In his article he mentions that Google uses this javascript function to reposition the mouse cursor from the address bar of the browser to the search box inside the Google search page. This way if you were to type a domain name in the search box, Google would display the ads and when someone clicks on it, Google will make money. I recommend that you read through this post of BlogStorm for more clear understanding.

The funny thing is that I know many computer illiterate people who actually type the full URLs into the google search box, since they seem to be unaware of the browser’s address bar. They do this on their own, however, and it has nothing to do with any Google trickery.
