linkify: A Great Bookmarklet Tool for Blogging

If you are a blogger who does lot of linking to other blogs and websites, linkify, by Laurence, is a must to have tool for you to ease the task of creating links in your posts.

After you add linkify to your browser, all you have to do is highlight the text in the textarea that you want to create a link for and click on linkify in your browser. It will then pop-up a small window (see the snapshot below) with the search results based on what you had highlighted. Then click on create link against the most relevant search result and the highlighted text will be instantly turned into a hyperlink with that URL.

The tool is based on Google AJAX Search API and can create links for the text in the multi-line textarea, and as of now works in Firefox only.

All the links in this post were created using linkify and it was very much an easy task to create those links. I wish this was a built-in feature of WordPress.
