GMail Signup is Now Open to Everyone

From a recent post on Google’s blogsite, David Murray, the Associate Product Manager, makes if official that GMail is now open for anyone to signup and create a GMail account. We don’t need to wait for anyone to send us an invitation or request our friends to invite us. Here is the direct link to the GMail sign-up page. And, for those of us who do not have a GMail account, here is a short list of its features that might be of your interest.

  • Over 2.8GB of storage space which you can also use to upload and store your files.
  • Get GMail on your mobile phone.
  • Integrated GTalk messenger client into GMail interface.
  • Retrieve emails from upto 5 different mailboxes and configure a custom From:Email address.
  • Search your emails in Google style free text search.
  • GMail is very fast when compared to other email services.

Of course, there are many more features such as neat and nice looking interface, ability to download emails to outlook etc etc .. but the features above are the most preferred ones.

I don’t think this will make much difference - anyone who want a gmail account would have got one already. The invites are not that hard to get.
