Windows Tips: Hidden trick in Notepad to automatically log time
One of my colleagues at work told me about this Notepad trick that I never knew could have existed in notepad. I gave it a try and I am loving it! The trick is fairly simple.
Open notepad and type “.LOG” [without quotes] and save it.
From next time onwards, whenever you open the saved notepad txt file [with .LOG in it], the current time stamp is automatically appended in the file. You may write your notes below that and save it again.
Voila! Your notepad now has the ability to take down timely notes! Enjoy! ![]()

I initially thinking of blog about this, but it turns out to be the most stupid trick ever. Simply press F5 will put timestamp into Notepad. There is NO trick at all.

Well, while I respect your opinion, must say that there are many who don’t know that this can be done at all. Since this information doesn’t come along with official documentation of notepad, it’s considered as a trick. Thanks !
