How To: Get rid of Notification Area Balloon Tips

Tired of looking at those annoying Notification Area Balloon Tips all the time? To disable those notifications, follow the simple registry change and you will not see those ever again.

[Before you make any changes to your registry, take a backup]
1. Click Start->Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.
2. Navigate to the following subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
3. Right-click in the right pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips.
4. Double-click this new entry [EnableBalloonTips], and then give it a hexadecimal value of 0. [Note: You have to assign it a hexadecimal 0 and not anything else]
5. Quit Registry Editor. Log off Windows, and then log back on.

That’s it. All Notifications have been disabled for the current user. To revert, delete the EnableBalloonTips DWORD, logoff and login back.
